10 Families Evacuated After Fire in Kennwick Apartments

Monday night a fire broke out in the attic of one of the buildings in a Kennewick two story apartment.  Firefighters say they were called to the H building of the Lakeside apartments off Edison and Clearwater Ave around 7:30 pm and found smoke rising from the top of one the buildings. The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reports of injuries. the fire reportedly damaged two apartments but everyone that lived in H building had to be relocated.

Most of the families are staying with friends or family but the Red Cross is helping the others. The fire is under investigation but officials say the cause is likely electrical. This serves as a great reminder for everyone to check their fire extinguishers and fire alarms in their houses.
