Around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, hundreds of people were evacuated from Clackamas Town Center in Portland after a ‘Halloween’ masked gunman entered the shopping center and opened fire with an Assault Rifle.

The gunman entered the mall via Macy’s and then let off dozens of rounds before being 'neutralized' by police. According to KATU News, Clackamas County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. James Rhodes said deputies went room-by-room through the mall to find people who were hiding and believe there were no other shooters involved.

The mall’s Santa, who sits near the Macy’s, told KGW TV that he was not injured. Authorities have closed the entrances and exits into the mall parking lot as their investigation continues late Tuesday.

Evan Walters, a mall employee, was locked inside a store with about 10 others just a few feet away from where the shooting happened.

It was kind of surreal because we hear pops and loud noises all the time because we're right here by the food court, but it's never been anything like that. It was very definite gun shots. I think most all of us knew it was gunshots. There really was no rhyme or reason to them. There were many in a row.

Everyone's just trying to stick together and be as calm as possible for people ... I don't know what else to say. It's just kind of scary. We're just trying to be as strong as we can and hopefully we'll be out of this as soon as possible.

Officers are continuing their investigation tonight. For live coverage of the incident, you can stream KATU News continuous live coverage.
