The Mid Columbia will be scorching hot for the next few weeks with temperatures in the triple digits. Mount Rainier National Park will be clear and cool with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s - the perfect day trip getaway to beat the heat and it's only 2 hours and 45 minutes away.

Mount Rainier National Park has 260 miles of maintained hiking trails from half mile short family hikes to 10+ mile trails for experienced hikers. You’ll explore old-growth forest (check out the photo of me leaning on 1000 year old trees) river valleys and the high sub-alpine meadows on the edge of the mountain.

Lakes, streams, wildflowers, waterfalls and glaciers will take your breath away (some of the steeper hikes will have the same affect). Check out the photos and the short video of our trip below. Plan your trip now at the Mount Rainier National Park website.
