Beware the Curse That Burned Goldendale to the Ground

With the first full moon on a Friday the 13th in nearly two decades coming up this Friday, superstitions are high and ghost stories re-appear.
In spring 1888 a convicted murderer (who may have been wrongly convicted according to some urban legends) named Jochin Henry Timmerman was hanged in Goldendale, Washington.
Prior to the hanging he got drunk and laughed and joked with the Klickitat sheriff and his deputies. On the way to the gallows he sat in his coffin on the back of a wagon and calmly smoked a cigar. Once the noose was around his neck he cursed the town and declared it would burn to the ground.
Just over a month later it did just that. Nearly all the county buildings and several residents had to be rebuilt from scratch. And yes, the Timmerman grave is believed to be haunted.
