A good buddy of mine is a massive Sammy Haggar and Chickenfoot fan and made sure I didn't miss 'The Foot' when they rolled through Portland this past weekend at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. I was already a big fan of the opening band, Black Stone Cherry, and after seeing them perform live I have even more respect for these doods.

The boys outta Kentucky kicked off their set with a furious rendition of 'Maybe Someday' from their self titled debut album and wrapped up the set with their version of Joe Walsh's 'Rocky Mountain Way'. This wasn't just a typical cover of a classic song. No, instead at around the 2:00 mark frontman Chris Robertson kicks off a rockin' jam session with a wicked solo. BSC definitely set a tone for the night and Chickenfoot kept the energy up throughout their set. Killer bands, a radical venue, and great friends. Awesome. BSC set the bar VERY high. Now I want to see Godsmack perform 'Rocky Mountian Way'...do you think they could do a better performance?
