With an overtime loss to Portland Wednesday night, the 1 point the Tri City Americans picked up allowed them to eliminate Prince George from playoff contention.

With a stellar 46-save performance against the Winterhawks, Goaltender Eric Comrie broke the Americans career record for saves which had stood at 1,825.   It was held by former American's standout Aaron Baker, set during the 1997-98 season.  According to the WHL statistical website as of today, Comrie is listed with 1,831 saves.

Baker, who played on a very young team, saw the Americans miss the playoffs that year with a 15-42-4 record.     Baker also sits on the records wall by the Americans office in the Toyota Center on top of the single-season games played record of 65, and also is on the list of top Americans goalies with six career shutouts. He also made the list of career minutes played with 8,053.

Assuming Comrie starts the last three games of the season, he will finished with 63 which will tie Carey Price for third on the single season list.

Comrie is expected to have his name on a number of other records before he finishes his career with the Americans.

With the point, the Americans will finish with at least 65 points for the season.  Prince George, who trails the Americans by five points after Tuesday night,  has two games left against Kamloops.  But even a home and home sweep will leave the Cougars at 64, as they were eliminated from the WHL Playoffs.  The 8th place Americans will likely face Kelowna in the first round, with two home games slated at Toyota Center for March 25th and 26th.
