Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor recently worked with Foo Fighters frontman / ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl on his secret side-project, as well as an upcoming music documentary. Grohl’s new project is being recorded on the subject of the upcoming documentary — the famous mixing board that used to reside at Sound City Studios, where Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ and Slipknot’s ‘Iowa’ were both recorded.

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has been keeping himself extremely busy as of late with his two bands and book tour, but Taylor jumped at the chance to work with Grohl on the secret project.

Corey Taylor recently spoke with Artisan News about the project while walking the carpet for the Roast of Zakk Wylde. “[Grohl is] doing a documentary about the legendary board from Sound City that every and their mom recorded on,” explained Taylor. “Everybody from ‘Nevermind’ to ‘Iowa,’ and he’s slowly but surely gotten all these people together to make music on that board again. He called me — he was like “Would you like to do a tune?” I was like, “Are you serious? I’m on a plane right now.”

Taylor continued, “It’s really cool because its me, Dave and [Cheap Trick guitarist] Rick Nielsen on one tune. It’s just a huge check mark on my bucket list, let’s put it that way. I’m really ecstatic, it’s a really good tune.”

Stephen Pearcy and Warrenn DeMartini of Ratt have also recorded with Grohl on this latest project, which has yet to be given a name, title or release date.
