The driver, that struck a woman eating on her dinner break in Prosser with an out-of-control car, launching her more than 30 feet in the air, has been sentenced.

Jason A. Heep, high on methamphetamine at the time, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in jail on work release. Heep still has to qualify for the program, according to news reports and is required to report to jail by Nov. 21.

Heep was speeding on Wine Country Road when he swerved into oncoming traffic and then off the road. He flew into the parking lot at Sandy’s Bloom Central in Prosser, hit parked cars, and then struck the metal picnic table where Katrina Bliss was eating during her break.

Bliss was thrown more than 30 feet and knocked unconscious. She suffered a concussion and a broken right toe and left ankle.
