At Voodoo Experience this past Sunday (Nov. 2), Foo Fighters had a homecoming of sorts.

Though not natives of New Orleans, Dave Grohl and company found a home away from home when visiting there earlier this year during the filming of the HBO special 'Sonic Highways.' During their stay, they visited several area musicians including the legendary Troy Andrews, better known as Trombone Shorty.  He jammed with the band at a surprise concert last May and made another appearance with the Foos this past weekend at Voodoo.

"After 20 years, you start to do stuff that feels right and that you will remember for the rest of your life," Andrews told New Orleans news outlet NOLA.com regarding the Foo Fighters match up. "That's what just happened there."

Shorty took the stage at Voodoo and proceeded to pump new life into the Foo Fighters' set. Check it out in the video above.

"I made a new friend," Grohl told the crowd, recalling their first meeting. "I was standing onstage. I looked down, I could see him. I said, 'Hey man, did you bring your f--king horn tonight?' He went upstairs and got some old rusty trombone. It was one of the greatest nights of my life that I got to spend with my new friend Troy 'Trombone Shorty.'"

He then went on to blaze the hell out of that horn like no one else can during 'This Is a Call.'

Grohl urged him on, and he pushed Grohl, making for a genuinely exciting and unforgettable moment.
