Guns N’ Roses may be hitting the festival circuit this spring, but guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal already has begun turning his focus to the band’s eventual studio return.

The guitarist tells Rolling Stone that at this point, there are a lot of ideas, but a time needs to be set to get the recording of a new album in motion. “It’s just a question of all of us organizing,” says the guitarist. “We’re still doing shows and I think once we clear up our schedule and focus more on new music, it’ll happen … Hopefully we can make more music, that’s what it’s all about.”

Thal says he knows after the decade-plus wait for ‘Chinese Democracy,’ fans are more anxious than ever about the turnaround of new music. He adds, “They want new music and we can do it. It’s not that we’re done. I’m not ready for that. We need to keep making music. We have a great band that’s ready to do it and can do it well.”

Though touring plays a big part in the band’s next few months, Thal is optimistic that the members will regroup soon to start working through their musical ideas. He concludes, “Let’s keep our fingers crossed that life will not get in the way and we can get this last batch of shows done. Looking forward to it, but I’m also looking forward to having the main priority of our Guns time be making new music.”
