Certain guitarists are known for playing certain makes and models. Jimi Hendrix was quite loyal to the Fender Stratocaster. Former KISS member Ace Frehley has made a good living with the Gibson Les Paul. And AC/DC‘s Angus Young has a thing for the Gibson SG.

For Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain, the electric guitar he’s probably most identified with is the Fender Jaguar. By mid-to-late September, musicians everywhere can channel the late grunge rocker when Fender issues its signature Cobain model Jaguar, which has been built to the unique characteristics of the 1965 edition owned by Cobain.

When Cobain acquired his ’65 Jaguar in the summer of 1991, the guitar’s finish was worn, and it had some unusual features in place. The new Cobain model, available for both left-handed and right-handed players, will have the same look and hardware as his guitar.

Each Cobain model Jaguar comes with a black hard-shell case, plus a Cobain book loaded with photos as well as interview with Earnie Bailey, who was Nirvana’s guitar tech.
