I've always had a soft spot for the hard musics. Lately, I've gotten myself back into the metal genre.

I'm just prefacing this by saying I have actually spent money on these bands' new albums. I'm saying you should think about doing similarly.

This super group consists of Greg Puciato, vocalist for Dillinger Escape Plan, Max Cavalera, and Troy Sanders of Mastodon rotating on vocal chops and bringing their influences into one kick-ass melting pot.

New album: Killer Be Killed (2014)

Where to begin with these guys from Canada.. Good luck keeping up with their time signatures. They're a mathcore group who shred and shred and shred and shred. This sh*t gets technical.

New album: Volition (2013)

If you haven't listened to these guys yet, okay. If you haven't heard of Mastodon, though - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? These guys are bringing the acclaim back to the genre, a reputation that hasn't been hurt with a recent Grammy nod (which went to Tenacious D, are you kidding me?) Mastodon is a band who can't release a bad album. With a trio of vocalists, these guys are sure to please.

Oh, yeah. They also wore this to the Grammys.
