San Francisco took games one and two to jump out to an early 2-0 lead on Detroit in the best of 7 World Series.

Before last night's game two, Nick Kimmel, a 22-year-old Marine from Moses Lake and triple amputee due to injuries he sustained last December while serving in Afghanistan after stepping on an I.E.D., was honored by not only coming out onto the field with Willie Mays and Barry Zito, but he also threw out the first pitch!

A baseball fan his whole life, Kimmel, threw a first pitch strike from just in front of the mound at AT&T Park. The ceremony was part of Major League Baseball’s “Welcome Back Veterans” event through MLB’s 140 Club. Kimmel is now undergoing treatment at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
