My wife is heading to the hospital later today to give birth to our son. In our culture dads are supposed to hand out cigars. In China, dads hand out red boiled eggs. Well, Puerto Rico's tradition is bad ass. They put a black fist on the baby's wrist!

Puerto Ricans call it mano de azabache and it's meant to ward off evil.

Azabache Bracelets - Mal de ojo, or evil eye, is believed to result of excessive admiration or envious looks by others. Having newborn babies wear an azabache (a gold bracelet or necklace with a black or red coral charm in the form of a fist), is believed to protect them from the evil eye.
