Motley Crue is getting ready to head out on a massive North American tour this summer with Kiss, just simply dubbed "The Tour". Motley bassist Nikki Sixx recently sat down with Washington DC's Fox 5 to talk about the upcoming tour. In true Nikki form, he didn't pull any punches and made some interesting comments about the current state of rock 'n roll.

When asked about heading out on such a long tour schedule and the concerns about wearing down, Sixx had this to say:

I've been worn down for so long… We're like soldiers, man — you can't take us out now. You do it long enough and you realize that you just get stronger and you get better — you're a better player, better singer, better performer, and you just go. The longer you've been around, the better you get. And if there's anything that young musicians take away from this, you can't look like a roadie and be in a fucking band. Ya know? You've gotta be in a band. You've gotta be a rock star. You've gotta dress like a rock star, you've gotta play music that's important, you've gotta put a hundred percent into your lyrics, a hundred percent into your songs, a hundred percent into your show, your packaging, your marketing, and do it. It's time for new bands to step up because Kiss and Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Stones, we're not always gonna be here. Who's gonna replace us? There's no one out there. It's sad.

Well, that was encouraging for young musicians. I agree with the putting in 100% into everything you do, but I could give two squirts if the lead singer has grease stains on his worn out Slayer shirt or if his hair is teased with guy-liner on. The look really doesn't matter, man. If the music rocks, it rocks and if you can play good music it doesn't matter what you look like. Worry about making good music before your 'image'.

I wonder how do your roadies feel about those comments? Don't look like that guy, look like me and be a rockstar? Get over yourself, Nikki. There are bands like Black Veil Brides that dress JUST LIKE YOU, like IDENTICAL, and they paint their faces similar to Kiss. If you and Gene Simmons made a baby it would be a Black Veil Bride. Yet, 'there's no one out there' to replace you? Their music isn't really my cup-o-tea, but those kids work hard. I've seen them live and they do a good job putting on a show. Also, the Rolling Stones are far from current and really aren't here anymore, dood.

Maybe Nikki should pick up a copy of Rolling Stone or better yet, Revolver, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, or Alternative Press. Speaking of what rock stars look like...Mick Mars looks like the corpse of Joan Jett, by the way, and dude can still rip it!
