Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber was on his way to dinner in Portland when he asked his driver to pull over so he could save a woman's life.

The politician used to be an emergency room doctor! He saw a man performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and rushed to help. According to news reports, the paramedics believe the woman was suffering from a heroin overdose. He kept her alive until the ambulance arrived. According to authorities the woman he helped rescue on Monday is expected to survive!

Apparently this wasn't the first time something like this has happened. During a debate in 2010 a man was suffering a heart attack and Dr. Kitzhaber rushed off the podium to assist. And in 2005 he chased down a guy who broke into his office and trapped him in a revolving door. Total bad ass
