Just last month, Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix detailed some vocal issues he was experiencing that needed to be treated before the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival took place. With the tour just over a week away, the rocker updated us on his status.

“I think I’ll be alright. I’ve got a speech and vocal therapist at the current time to learn how to sing through this and work through this and take care of myself,” explains the singer to Loudwire. “Really it’s just a matter of having a little bit more discipline than I’m used to, you know, as far as vocal rest and warm ups and cool downs and all that kind of stuff. [I'm looking at] what I eat, and it’s really coming down to more discipline and I’m up for it. I’ve got a job to do. I’ve got to go rock motherf—ers.”

At the time, Shaddix stated that he had a node that was forming on his vocal cord, but he’s been making sure to do everything needed in order to get back onstage.

Shaddix may be able to compare notes with Godsmack frontman Sully Erna on the UPROAR Festival, as Godsmack recently had to bow out of their European shows in order to allow the singer enough vocal rest to be ready for the festival.

Jacoby says of Erna, “I wish him well. I know it’s not fun dealing with it. But if you get hooked up with the right people and you start doing the right things, you’re going to be alright.”

Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin recently told Loudwire that Erna progressed ahead of schedule and will definitely be ready for the festival kickoff.

Be sure to catch Papa Roach and Godsmack as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR festival, which begins Aug. 17 in Kansas City.

Stay tuned to Loudwire for our full interview with Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix on UPROAR and their new album, ‘The Connection,’ coming soon.
