For 11 years the Music Midtown Festival had been a concert staple in Atlanta, Ga., until its hiatus in 2006. Organizers plan to return the event to its former glory with this year’s lineup, headlined by Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.

After already being announced as co-headliners for the DeLuna Festival in Pensacola, Fla., the Foos and Pearl Jam will head to the Dirty South in September. Joining them will be Florence + the Machine, the Avett Brothers, Girl Talk and Civil Twilight. This year will also add some diversity to the roster with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Atlanta rappers Ludacris and T.I., Van Hunt, LP and O’Brother.

Music Midtown 2012 takes place September 21-22 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. Early bird prices are $55 for one-day tickets and $100 for the weekend, going on sale on Saturday, April 28, at 10am EST. You can find more information including the lineup schedule here.

The initial Music Midtown ran from 1994-2005 before shutting down in 2006. There were up to six stages hosting acts for three days at the peak of the festival. Promoters blamed declining attendance and rising costs as the reason for the hiatus. Music Midtown was resurrected in 2011 as a one-day event, headlined by Coldplay and the Black Keys.
