A bicyclist in Portland has been awarded $439,000 for slipping on "soapy" pavement outside of a car wash. Reports say the Oregon Court of Appeals upheld the judgement because they say the "cyclist wasn't trespassing and the business had a duty to keep its pavement safe." The bicyclist, John R. Currier, broke his hip when he slipped while riding on the soapy pavement on August in 2011 and also had a deep cut on his elbow. Both injuries need surgery and estimate to be over $150,000 in costs, plus the pain and suffering valued around $500,000. He was awarded 70 percent which was $439,000.
