RIP Uncle Phil

A large piece of my childhood died today. James Avery, best known for his role as Phillip Banks on the television sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', passed away at the age of 65 following surgery for an undisclosed illness.

Besides his popular role on Fresh Prince, Avery also voiced The Shredder on the animated series of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'! Besides Saturday mornings, I would watch those VHS tapes from Burger King on repeat as a kid.

Our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Uncle Phil.
