Customers of Sakura Restaurant in Richalnd were vocally sad yesterday when news broke out of a fire in their kitchen. Now it looks like Sakura might be able to open much sooner then expected.

The owner of Sakura, Peter Weng, hopes to open again in as little time as 2 weeks.

The fire was mostly contained on the stove where it started, and reportedly mostly damaged the stove's hood, ducts and space around the stove. The rest of the business was unharmed besides some light smoke damage.

Repairs will cost around $10,000 says the Richland fire Battalion Chief Brenda Rodgers.
