Do NOT be fooled by a new, very convincing scam that webcam hackers recorded you watching porn.

According to Business Insider,  Hackers blackmail you by saying they got into your webcam and recorded you watching porn . . . and they even include one of your real passwords as proof.  Fortunately, it's all a lie . . . they probably just got the password from a site like Yahoo that's been hacked over the past few years.

Don't worry, hackers aren't about to share videos of you doing perverted, depraved things all over the Internet. It's very convincing and a lot of people are falling for it.

Scammers are sending emails saying they hacked your webcam and recorded you watching porn.  And just to drive the point home, they include one of the REAL passwords you use.  They demand at least $1,200 in Bitcoin, or they say they'll send the video of you to all of your contacts.  And apparently some of them have made well over $50,000 in blackmail payments.

Well, it's all a lie.

They probably got your email and one of your real passwords from one of the many, many sites like Yahoo that have been hacked over the past few years.  But they didn't get into your webcam and record you.

That being said, it's not impossible for someone to hack into your webcam, so you might want to put a piece of tape or a Post-It over it when you're not using it.

Or go old school like me and scam some porno magazines. Ebay has an amazing selection, uh, I've heard.
