Soon the familiar male and female stick figures differentiating restrooms may be leaving Seattle. The mayor says gender-specific bathrooms are discriminatory against transgender and transexaul people.

Portland and Multnomah County have already made the change. Seattle Mayor Ed Murray says it's the just thing to do.

Before you panic, understand that the proposal only applies to SINGLE OCCUPANCY restrooms. There's zero chance a man and a woman will be running into each other inside.

Since single-occupancy restrooms don't really need gender differentiation, doing so is an unnecessary insult to people who don't easily identify as male or female, he said.
