Steven Adler: I Have No Desire to Do Anything With Axl Rose Again

Ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is done talking about Axl Rose aka ‘the redhead,’ saying the singer’s letter to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exposed the singer’s “true colors.” Even though Adler spoke at length about Axl and the current incarnation to Loudwire, after all the drama, mudslinging and the ensuing media firestorm, he has given his final interview where Rose’s name will be mentioned.

He likened the Hall of Fame event and playing with Slash and Duff McKagan once again to “letting go” and that it felt “a huge weight was lifted off my body.” He considers all hopes of a GN’R original lineup reunion to be squashed for good, too. “That’s done,” Adler told Rolling Stone. “That’s totally out of my system. I was hoping that the five of us would have been there to play and show our respect to the fans.”

He continued, “If it was going to happen, that’s when it was going to happen, and in Axl’s letter, he showed his true colors to the world,” he said, referring to the induction.

When pressed to clarify what he meant about “true colors,” the kit minder said, “I think it’s disrespect. He’s not for the fans, which is everybody in the world. Basically, he told everybody in the world, ‘F— you, I don’t give a s— what you think.’”

Adler was mentioned first in Axl’s open letter to the Hall and to fans, which lead to speculation that his interviews about the subject irked Axl to the point of boycotting the ceremony.

Rose wrote, “Steven was at our show at the Hard Rock, later in ’06 in Las Vegas, where I invited him to our after-party and was rewarded with his subsequent interviews filled with reunion lies. Lesson learned.”

Adler’s response to being called out? “That doesn’t even make any sense,” he proclaimed. “That’s Axl, he doesn’t make any sense, and that’s it, I’m done with him, I’m never mentioning him or talking about him again. That’s it. One last thing – god bless him.”

Despite the drama, Adler said the induction was “the greatest way to end that chapter of my life. It couldn’t have gone better. It ended that chapter of my life great, and it’s starting this new chapter of my life, with my new band, even bigger and better. It’s very exciting. It’s f—ing exciting. Life is exciting again.”
