Seattle's Terry Brooks is one of my favorite authors. I have read his "Sword Of Shannara" trilogy six times.

When I first read the books back in the '80s, I said to myself that someone needs to make a movie about this. It turns out that there is going to be a TV series called "The Shannara Chronicles."

I am so excited! However, it is going to be on MTV! Ugh! This is very annoying, since I cannot stand a damn thing on MTV anymore.Besides "The Hobbit" and "The Lord Of The Rings" series, "The Sword Of Shannara" is my third favorite series. Brooks writes like JRR Tolkien. His writing makes you feel like you are really in the middle of a true-life fantasy.

Elves, dwarves, evil magic, warlock kings and more is the reason why Brooks captures my attention with "The Sword Of Shannara," "Elfstones of Shannara" and "The Wishsong Of Shannara." My advice to you would be to read the books first and then record the series to watch later.

I hope that the creators of the TV series read through this books in their entirety. They have some seriously large shoes to fill! I don't think it will be easy to bring Brooks' trilogy to life, so they better do him justice.

I will not miss "The Shannara Chronicles," which starts this month.
