UW Scores Again with $279 Million from the Gates Foundation
UW has seen it's share of wins lately, but this is a big one. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation just granted $279 million to continue programs that measure health around the world. These pioneering programs will be able to continue work for the next decade due to the funds! This is one of the largest gifts granted to a university, but it's not the first big grant Bill Gate's and his foundation have given to UW.
Over the years UW has gotten $1.25 billion to the university sponsoring such programs from autism research, AIDS and other medical research, to the marching band. While Bill didn't attend UW his wife, Melinda and several of her family members did. Guess it's good to be a Husky these days!
