A Richland woman gave a great explanation for why the hole in her backyard wall is still unrepaired a year later. But I think there is something the homeowner can do to speed up the process.

Her answer is courtesy of KNDU's "Ask Shane" series. I LOVE that feature. He does a great job. The answer is the insurance companies are battling over who will fix the fence.

HIS insurance (the driver) says he's not covered for that. The homeowner's insurance is suing. While the companies battle it out in the courts, the hole gets worse and worse as pedestrians kick at the bricks as they walk past.

HER HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE SHOULD FIX THE WALL AND THEN BATTLE TO BE COMPENSATED!

They have an obligation to cover her repairs! She shouldn't be dragged into this legal battle. That's why she pays them. They need to fix the wall because it's ultimately their job, then let THEM worry about who is responsible.

Sometimes with insurance companies you need to assert yourself and remind them what their contractual obligations are. If you are too polite they act like nothing is their responsibility.

So go get them Mama Bear!!!
