A missing hiker that was found in Oregon this week is believed to be the first death caused by a cougar in the states history.

55 year old Diana Bober's body was found miles from her car in the Mount Hood National Forest in Welches. The woman appeared to have been mauled by a cougar but test results are needed to confirm.

Bober was last seen on August 29th and was reported missing by her family on Friday. A medical examiner said Bober has injuries consistent with a cougar attack. They also ruled out the chance that she died of another cause and was mauled by the cougar later, according to reports.

Police have warned hikers in the area of the attack and also alerted the school district. This would be the first person killed by a cougar in Oregon's history and the second in the Northwest just this year.

There are an estimated 6,600 cougars in Oregon and officials get around 400 complaints each year.
