Slow and steady wins the race - at least that’s been the case for Young Guns on their way up the charts. For the past 32 weeks, the title track off their latest album 'Bones' has been steadily climbing the charts, culminating with earning the British quintet the No. 1 spot on Active Rock tally this week.

Hitting No. 1 is reason enough to celebrate but the band also earned themselves another record with the staggering chart climb. They now hold the record for the longest unbroken streak to the top. They can add that to being the highest-charting new band at Active Rock radio in 2012, and you can see why people are talking about this up and coming band.

Lead singer Gustav Wood spoke about the new milestone for the band, explaining, “To hit No. 1 in America is something most bands, including ourselves, can usually only ever dream about. To have done it with our debut single is something that is almost too incredible for us to believe.” He continued, “But, here we are alongside, and for the time being above, bands that we grew up listening to and we are so excited and grateful.”

Rather than resting on their laurels, the band will use this latest energy to continue to propel them forward. “We're full of momentum and energy and can't wait to get to South by Southwest in a few days and then come back for the Bullet for My Valentine tour in April,” said Wood. “We feel like we haven't yet scratched the surface and we can't wait to kick on!”

Young Guns will be playing a handful of shows this week at SXSW including the Wind-up Records 15th anniversary party and the Alternative Press Party before joining Bullet for My Valentine and Halestorm on the 2013 HardDrive tour. Check out all the dates here.
