City council members in Moses Lake will meet soon to discuss the fact that next year's proposed budget is in the red over $6 million.

The 2016 budget year hasn't started yet, so there's still time to save the city, but the coffers are so over-burdened some officials are estimating money is being spent right now the city doesn't have.

Each department will be asked to propose what it needs, and then estimate what will happen if it doesn't receive that funding.

With $6.5 million to trim from a budget, a lot of proposals will get a big fat NO.

Will the cuts in 2016 come from the police? The Parks & Rec. budget? Roads?

The money has to come from somewhere.
