Heartbreaking: Washington Hunting Dog Wouldn’t Leave Dead Owner’s Body
A man from Odessa (north of Ritzville) was hunting with a buddy east of Ritzville near St. John. The buddy left Tuesday and asked the Odessa man to call him when he got home... but the call never came.
Search and Rescue found his body Wednesday and sitting not far away was his trusty yellow labrador hunting dog.
Despite the freezing temperatures and isolation, the dog had stayed by his fallen owner.
They were hunting near the Palouse River and it is not clear what the cause of death was. Fog prevented a search last night and the temperatures dropped to single digits. The dog survived and never left his owner's side.
So sad! Pray for his family.
