Identities of Slipknot’s New Drummer + Bassist Apparently Confirmed
While it's been one of the worst kept secrets of the year, the identities of Slipknot's new members now appear to be confirmed with the posting of a backstage sheet listing the band's members.
The call sheet, which includes the names Jay Weinberg and Alessandro Venturella on the band list, was posted by Norm Costa, a drum tech who was apparently hired by Slipknot to work with Weinberg but was recently relieved of his duties. The disgruntled Costa posted the photo of the band list on his Instragram account (see it here).
Slipknot have not officially revealed the identities of Weinberg as drummer and Venturella as bassist, but Venturella's identity was all but confirmed by the tattoos on his hand in the video for 'The Devil in I.' Corey Taylor even stated how upset he was that the band let that slip by them. "We're keeping it kind of on the DL, but not really, cause somebody already pointed out the tattoos," said Taylor. "I was like, 'Why didn't we make him wear gloves?' I was so upset, like we thought of all this stuff. We put the hood on him and then the mask and it was like, 'It's really hot guys.' And then there is his tattoos for everybody [to see]. I was like, 'Well, we missed the mark on that one.'"
