J.J. Abrams re-teaming with The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley for a new sci-fi thriller is very exciting, but even more exciting is the third ingredient in this project — Marielle Heller, who made her directorial debut on last year’s indie favorite Diary of a Teenage Girl, will helm the new film, which marks Ridley’s first major starring role outside of Star Wars.

The Wrap reports that Ridley will star in Kolma, a new sci-fi thriller which Abrams will produce via Bad Robot. Somehow this project gets even more exciting, described as “a cross between a loftier, more mystical version of The Notebook and Albert Brooks’ 1991 fantasy romance Defending Your Life.” When can we buy tickets?

Based on Keren Margalit’s 2003 Israeli film, Kolma centers on a woman whose partner tragically dies in a car accident. 50 years later, the woman is faced with a heart-wrenching decision: to reunite with her lost love in the afterlife, or to go back in time to the day of the accident and possibly change the course of their lives.

Take This Waltz and Stories We Tell director Sarah Polley previously worked on the script, which should give you a better idea regarding the film’s overall tone and emotional weight.

Ridley is currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII with director Rian Johnson, and will likely return for Episode IX with director Colin Trevorrow. She’s also been rumored for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.
