Owning and driving a vehicle in the Richland City limits could cost you more! The City council is considering imposing a $20 a year fee when you register your car to fund the Duportail Bridge project!

The city needs 4 million dollars to complete the Duportail extension and under RCW 36.73 the Washington State legislature permits local governments to form a TBD and fund it through a variety of funding mechanisms, the most common being a Vehicle license fee.

The real kick in the pants to Richland car owners is that this is NOT a one time $20 per year fee to get the full four million plus enough for paving, the city estimates they'll need to keep the fee intact for 20 more years!

There will be a meeting open to the public Tuesday, February 21st, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 505 Swift Blvd, Richland.

I'm guessing this is going to be a lively meeting!!
