Marcia Robitaille and Robert Hagans were in a dead tie after the re-count, so they flipped a coin.

It was democracy in action Dec. 1 in Kahlotus, the small Mid Columbia town northeast of Pasco.

It's a lovely community and both candidates wished to represent it and act in its best interests. But a dead heat called for extraordinary means to decide. The law stipulated a coin toss. Hagans won and Robitaille said she feels good to have been a part of the democratic process..

Better luck next time Robitaille and thanks for your willingness to serve.
