Members of Slipknot Discuss New Paul Gray Best Bassist Award at Revolver Golden Gods
It seemed only fitting that at this year’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards, members of Slipknot – Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson and M. Shawn Crahan – would be on hand to present the award in the brand new Paul Gray Best Bassist category. The award was named in honor of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray who died in May 2010 from a drug overdose.

On Friday Slipknot played their first show since the passing of bassist Paul Gray. Performing for 25,000 fans at the Greek installment of the Sonisphere festival in Athens, Slipknot ripped through a 14 song set. According to a review that was posted at SonisphereFestivals.com, Gray's red jumpsuit, his mask and his bass guitar, stood symbolically at the back of the stage alongside his bandmates, who also brought back the classic red jump suits and old school style masks. Stone Sour and Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor sat down with Dave Kim of WGRD before last week's Avalanche Tour stop in Michigan. With Slipknot preparing to play their first shows without bassist Paul Gray, the obvious question is what is the plan for Slipknots future? “Nothing’s happening immediately, I can tell everyone that,” Taylor told WGRD. “We have no plans for an album, we have no plans to do anything other than this tour at the moment.” Taylor also talked about why he hates asians (total joke, btw), his other band Stone Sour, rumors involving him and Velvet Revolver, and his favorite terrible movies like Ice Spiders. Check out the interview after the jump.
