I get obsessed with the September 11 terror attacks every year. I watch, like, eight hours of all those shows that come on showing the same footage over and over. Yet it's like seeing it for the very first time. I believe every Tri-Cities resident should visit the Sept. 11 memorial at the Southridge Sports & Events Complex next Thursday. Here's why:

Wednesday marks the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Memorial services will be held all across the country, many involving a reading of the victims' names.

Today marks a day of reflection for many as we remember the tragic 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, Pa. Amidst terrorism, there were also great acts of heroism with many sacrificing their lives to protect others.

The City of Kennewick will hold a short ceremony on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial at the Southridge Sports & Events Complex at 2901 Southridge Blvd., Kennewick. It will begin at 6 p.m. and only last about 20 minutes. The public is encouraged to attend.
