An American Commando was killed in the line of duty rescuing 70 hostages in a surprise raid that were scheduled for a mass execution. Reports say they rescued the hostages from a prison in Hawijah, Iraq and that the soldier was killed by "direct fire" from ISIS fighters. That makes him the first soldier to be killed fighting ISIS since they started fighting over a year ago.

The military says they got conformation for the mass execution when they found that the "mass graves were already dug" during the raid.
