Despite having a city moratorium and potential ban on medical marijuana production,   Benton County's only pot store is hoping to open Tuesday, July 8th.

According to the Yakima Herald-Republic,    protestors plan to picket the store and City Hall as well.  The store is called appropriately, "Altitude."

Store owners and officials say that's fine, people have the right to do so, and they're prepared for it. According to the Herald:

"Altitude is one of 34 retail license applicants in the state due for final inspection from the state Liquor Control Board, said Mikhail Carpenter, a spokesman for the agency charged with regulating the industry."

Once the store is at full operation, they hope to eventually employ between 40-50 people.
