In what sounds like a comedy television pilot, Newberg-Dundee police are shaking their heads after two cases were solved for them. Officers responded on Sunday morning to reports of a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser. When police spotted the stolen vehicle, driven by Portland resident Randy Cooper, he tried to book it out of there. The problem for Randy was the Buick Regal in his way. After Cooper hit the Buick, officers were able to determine that, it too, had been stolen three weeks prior.

Randy Cooper, 27, was booked on several charges, including third-degree assault, reckless driving, and attempting to elude. The driver of the Buick was 25-year-old Kristin Nicole Begue. Begue was charged with DUI and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
