A 21-year old man was shot dead on the streets of Kennewick and a 19-year old suspect has been arrested in Pasco, charged with rendering criminal assistance, in connection with the murder. This is an ongoing investigation. The timeline follows:

At about 6:00pm officers responded to the area of W Bruneau Pl and N Dennis St for multiple reports of shots fired. Prior to their arrival officers were advised there was one adult male, later identified as 21-year-old Patrick Steven Romero, deceased in the area. Officers arrived on scene and identified several witnesses who advised several possible suspects had left the area towards the Econolodge. Officers quickly set up containment around the crime scene and the Econolodge while starting the investigation and attempting to locate the suspects and take them into custody. Detectives are currently on-scene and we are currently asking that you stay out of the area until officers have completed their investigation. Then the KPD issued this press release at 0430 this morning, Sunday, February 23, 2020:

The investigation has led KPD Detectives to the 600 block of N 19th Ave in Pasco, WA. With the assistance of the Pasco Police Department, 19 year old Raheem Mayberry was taken into custody. Two vehicles associated with Raheem have been seized pending search warrants and Detectives are currently at his residence conducting a search warrant for evidence related to this crime. After being interviewed by KPD Detectives, Raheem was booked into the Benton County Jail for the alleged crime of Rendering Criminal Assistance in the 1st Degree.
