Steadfast (WMEC-623) was quite busy yesterday.

The cutter, based in Astoria, seized 23,000 pounds of cocaine from 5 different boats off the coast of Mexico.

A newer cutter, Robert Ward added another 3,000 pounds to Steadfast's haul on their way back to Oregon, bringing the total to $350,000,000. The majority of cocaine smuggling is done in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Steadfast was commissioned in 1968. In 1994, she was re-commissioned after being decommissioned for Major Maintenance Availability. Since then, she's been ported in Astoria, Oregon. She was the first cutter to seize over 1 million pounds of marijuana over her career.
