4th Graders Make and Donate Pies to the Union Gospel Mission
A truly inspirational story to share with everyone. These are some of the finest 4th graders Yakima has to offer:
For over 20 years, students at Garfield Elementary School in the Yakima School District work to make pies and donate them to the Union Gospel Mission.
Today the entire 4th grade class at Garfield started making pies. They worked until they were done.
This year, the ingredients for the pies were donated by Garfield parents, current and former Garfield staff, and Sodexo, the Yakima School District's contracted food service provider.
On Friday, November 16th (tentatively 9:15 a.m.), the Union Gospel Mission will pick up the pies. The students will form a chain to pass the pies from the school out to the Union Gospel Mission's van.
Garfield Elementary School is located at 612 N 6th Avenue. The principal is Mr. Steve Browlow. The assistant principal is Ms. Cheryl Jordan. The teacher in charge of the pie donations this year is Mr. Pedro Pacheco.
Thank you for the continuing inspirational holiday message of giving.
