Annoying Habit Needs to be Enforced Better on NW Beaches
I grew up going to the beaches in the great northwest. My Grandparents were from the Oregon coast so my family went there very often while I was growing up. I was mainly raised in eastern Washington around Spokane where we usually went to Priest lake, Coeur d'alene lake, Lake Roosevelt, or any of the rivers in the surrounding area. There has always been one thing that has got my goat, but that "thing" seems to have gotten worse over the years.
Yes, I am talking about beach tents.
Why beach tents you ask? The problem is not with one beach tent, but with a beach full of them. They take tons of space, make it hard to maneuver if its busy, and mainly block the amazing views. I go to the beach to watch the waves break on the beach and enjoy the beauty of the water. Tents all over the beach steal that experience from me. Should I have to bring a lift platform with 5 foot legs to enjoy that?
YOU say that you HAVE to bring a tent to the beach?
OK, I get it. maybe you have small children or you are sensitive to strong sunlight but you deserve to enjoy the beach also right? Let's make a compromise then. If you have to set up your "beach tent", please do it in a place that does not block the view of others. Please don't set up right on the water just because you can. The back of the beach is just as nice with just as much sunshine as the part right next to the water.
