I'm stunned by the continued prevalence of child pornography in our community and those across the Columbia Basin who brazenly traffic in it, thinking they can and will get away with it. For those who are caught, how many more go undetected? Hopefully less and less with each passing day as the continued diligence of the police, and concerned citizens who see something, then take the time to say something by filing cyber tips, which led to the investigation, apprehension and confession of a child pornographer.

According to the Kennewick PD Criminal Investigations Division, two cyber-tips were received on February 20, 2020 and March 17, 2020 from two internet sources made to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tips both alleged graphic and despicable depictions and communications involving child pornography originating from a source in Kennewick. A thorough investigation led authorities to 30-year old Terrie Ray Evans as the alleged culprit and source of the communications.

Today, May 11, 2020, Evans was contacted and taken into custody. During an interview, Evans confessed to uploading and downloading child pornography. He was booked on one count of Dealing in Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct 2nd Degree. Due to the extensive nature of the digital evidence this case is still being investigated and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Here's the link to the cyber tip line to report any criminal activity involving children anywhere. For what this suspect is facing, here is the link that describes the charges, and the system should move fairly quickly given the news release to the public that the man confessed.
