Twenty-six animals in total were rescued during an operation last weekend with an assist going to the Benton Franklin Humane Society.

The BFHS pack tagged along with an unnamed agency for a rescue operation on Friday August 21st. Upon rescue, the animals were taken to a shelter in Spokane where they are being spayed and neutered today, with most of the dogs coming back to the Tri-Cities to be available for adoption on Saturday, August 29th, 2020 at BFHS in Kennewick.

The cats are still being evaluated, so due to some of the feline's medical conditions, they will not be able for adoption this weekend.

Due to the anticipation of very high call volume, BFHS will be unable to answer the phone. All the adoptable animals will be on the BFHS website. To schedule an appointment to meet one of the rescue dogs, please call (509) 374-4235.

Chihuahuas, shih tzus and other small breed terriers are the dogs that were rescued, and the cats are all domestic short hairs.

Temperaments and overall health of the animals will be evaluated first.

These animals will require special adoptees as many of these pets have only known one owner, many have never been outside or around any other people, and it may take some time for the animals to become comfortable in their new surroundings.

According to the BFHS facebook page, 507 animals have gone to their "furrever" home just this year.

Wow. 507 is a of puppies and pussy cats. Woof. Meow.

That is 70+ animals more than this time last year. Even their transfers from partner organizations are up over last year, way up. They are throwing the ball excited, full-body tail wags happy, and thankful to everyone who adopted.
