In what will undoubtedly be one of the weirdest stories of 2014, Kennewick police recently released they arrested the girlfriend of a Tri-City Americans hockey player, who is a professional reporter, for threatening to kill him from a Kennewick hotel.

Tieja MacLaughlin, 25, was dating Jackson Playfair, 19, who joined the team two weeks ago after being traded from Spokane.

Her LinkedIn profile lists her current employers as Castanet Media (which currently has a story about her), The Daily Courier and Shaw TV Okanagan.

Police say she threatened to kill him for dating other women. She drove to Kennewick from Kelowna, British Columbia, to meet up with him. Playfair showed police the texts. They went to her hotel room and told her to leave America and not make contact with Playfair. She allegedly texted him again, so they arrested her.
