It is official. Cold Stone Creamery has opened its newest location at 2560 Queensgate Drive in Richland. Now we do not have to drive to the Yakima Valley or cross into Oregon.

If you have never been to a Cold Stone, now is your chance. The wait is over.

What Makes Cold Stone Different

Cold Stone has been perfecting handcrafted ice cream for 35 years, and the process is genuinely unlike anything else in the ice cream world. Every Creation starts with super-premium ice cream made fresh in the store, not scooped from a tub that has been sitting in a freezer for weeks.

You can choose your mix-ins that a crew member folds together on a frozen granite stone right in front of you.

The result is a custom ice cream Creation that is made for you, for that moment, with combinations limited only by what you can imagine.

Owner Jay Takhar said in a recent press release exactly what their new location is going to be about. "We're in the people business," Takhar said. "Our goal is to make ice cream that brings joy, sparks imagination, and creates memorable moments for every guest who walks through our doors."

One More Thing Worth Knowing

If you have never experienced a Cold Stone crew mid-Creation, there is a tradition you need to know about: the crew sings for tips. Drop something in the tip jar and the whole team breaks into song.

Also, my favorite combination is the Strawberry Blonde. It has Strawberry Ice Cream with Graham Cracker Pie Crust, Strawberries, caramel, and Whipped Topping all mixed together.
