Can’t Miss Comedians In The Northwest Spotlight This Week

If you're looking for laughs in the Northwest, you're in the right place. From regional headliners to nationally touring comedians, these are your best bets for comedy this week, 8/2 - 8/6.

Brian Bixby

Comedian Brian Bixby is the "Funniest in Portland," according to Willamette Week, who remarked on Bixby's nature for crossing the line. He told them, “I don’t want to be gross or be awful or anything like that. The point is to make bad things a little bit better.”

If you're up for some boundary-pushing comedy, you can find Bixby in Pasco this Thursday, along with "feminist killjoy Emma Jonas," and host Ying Vigilan, who you can read about here. At $5.00 a ticket, it's the most affordable comedy night in the area.

Curtis Cook

Curtis Cook has done stand-up on Comedy Central, appeared on Portlandia alongside Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, and he survived an Ebola check-point with Vice News. He writes for fan-favorite series Crank Yankers, and American Dad, and was nominated for a WGA (Writers Guild of America) award. Dude can write. And perform! See for yourself.

• Joker's Comedy Club, Richland - 8/5 & 8/6

Todd Glass

Todd Glass started doing comedy when he just 16 years old. Today, he's... not 16 years old. But he's much funnier than most 16-year-olds. With credits that include frequent appearances on the Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and his own Netflix special, "Act Happy," Glass is as close to a sure-fire bet for laughs as you could ask for.

Raanan Hershberg 

According to his bio, Raanan Hershberg is "a loud, neurotic Jew from Louisville, Kentucky." He made his network television debut on the Late, Late Show with James Corden, and earlier this year appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Steve Hofstetter

Comedian Steve Hofstetter went viral in 2016 for the way he shut down a heckler (it's the bit about kids/pizza in the video above). Now no one dares interrupt his stand-up shows. ... Okay, that's not true - but if you're smart, it's true for you.

Hofstetter is also an author, former Sports Illustrated columnist, TV host (FS1's Finding Babe Ruth, FOX's Laughs), co-founder of the pandemic's most buzzed-about Zoom show "Nowhere Comedy Club," and has likely checked many other things off your bucket list.

Carlos Mencia

Carlos Mencia will stream in perpetuity thanks to Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia, and Disney Channel's animated series The Proud Family, who just rebooted even Louder and Prouder.

Despite being knocked by Joe Rogan, George Lopez, South Park and others for allegedly stealing jokes, Mencia has continued to find success on stage and on TV. Even Rogan has said that he regrets an altercation on-stage, and he hopes Mencia is doing well. Seems like he is. A new series, Judge Carlos, is currently in post-production.

Aaron Weber

Nashville based Aaron Weber is the youngest comic to perform in the Opry circle (as in Grand Old Opry). He headlines comedy clubs across the USA, and he co-hosts the podcast Nateville, with Nate Bargatze and Brian Bates. Now that's some street-cred.
