Delusional Man Barricades Himself and His Kids At Kennewick Store
A Kennewick man is under arrest after refusing to leave a Circle K with his five kids.
Joseph B Wrisley-Fristed is now under arrest after brandishing a weapon and shooting out a window at the Circle K store located on Washington Street.
Fristed along with his five children refused to exit the Kennewick business resulting in KPD calling in the SWAT team.
KPD released a press release about the incident and the details that followed:
On June 25th, 2021 at 9:37 PM Kennewick Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious male at the Circle K located at 104 S Washington St.
According to the reports, Fristed was making delusional statements and believed to be under the influence of narcotics. He was accompanied by his 5 children with ages ranging from 3 to 13 years old.
The report says that additional calls were made to 911 advising the male had produced a handgun and discharged it through a window of the business. The male then took the children into the back of the business.
More details followed about the incident:
Employees and other patrons fled without injury and were met by arriving officers. Tri-City Regional SWAT was activated and responded with armored vehicles to assist Patrol Officers in attaining a peaceful solution.
Telephone communication was established and the suspect male, 34 year old Joseph B Wrisley-Fristed exited the business and surrendered without further incident.
The children were reunited with their mother. Wristley-Fristed was ultimately arrested for charges of Assault 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment. A handgun was recovered from the scene and Kennewick Police Detectives have been called out to continue the investigation.
It was a scary situation for all involved. I can't imagine what the children were thinking as the arrest was taking place but luckily no one was harmed. Kennewick Police are still investigating the situation.
